Ciao Familia e Amici,
For those of you who don’t know, I am going to Florence, Italia for the semester… TOMORROW! It’s been a busy few weeks getting ready, but I am finally packed and SO excited to go.
I’m actually first going to Frankfurt to see my cousin Sarah for a short visit. I can’t wait to see her, Carlo, her apartment and her life there. Then I’ll fly out to Florence on the 8th, where I’ll be picked up at the airport and taken to my apartment. All I know is that I live on Via dei Neri (a street that is apparently home to an incredible gelato cafe and a secret late-night bakery…oh man) and that I live with three other girls from my program. The rest is a delightful mystery, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.
I do know what classes I’m taking. Prepare to be jealous: The Culture of Food and Wine in Italy (you can tell from the name it’ll be incredible, not to mention the weekly field trips to wineries and local Italian restaurants for tastings), Photography in Florence (i’ll actually learn how to use my camera! and get credit for taking amazing pictures. sweet), a sociology class called Living Italy, and of course an Italian class. Eating, drinking, taking pictures…life will be tough.
Anyway, I haven’t even gotten there yet and I’m already going on and on. Stay tuned, I will be posting regularly, and I’ll make sure to keep it interesting.
As one of my best friends, Simran, says, “Ciao for now!”
P.S. I will miss my wonderful family and friends so much. Couldn’t have done this without your advice, love and support. I wish I could have had time to say goodbye to all of you. Keep in touch or, even better, come visit me! Baci xox
